How Much Does Engine Choice in the Dodge Durango Affect Fuel Mileage?

The Dodge Durango trims come with three different motors. Most of the trims come standard with a 3.6-Liter V-6 engine that develops 293-horsepower. The optional engine for those who want more muscle is a 5.7-Liter V-8 motor that delivers 360-horsepower. The larger engine is standard in, the higher trims, but the explosively powered SRT trim is powered with a 6.4-Liter V-8 that pounds out 475-horsepower.

These engines use fuel at a different level. The 6.4-Liter engine gobbles fuel at an 18-mpg rate on the highway and a mere 13-mpg in the city. The smaller V-8 engine does much better with a 21-mpg highway and 14-mpg city. The real fuel saver is the V-6 engine that gets 26-mpg highway and 19-mpg city.

Come to Spirit Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram to test drive all these vehicles, consider the fuel economy of each, and select the Durango which is best for you.
