There’s something to be said about competition and how it benefits consumers in pursuing items that will improve their overall quality of life. Nowhere is this drive more noticeable than in the automotive industry. Manufacturers are constantly attempting to prove their worth by producing vehicles that outdo their rivals. While this is certainly true regarding any vehicle, there’s something about the pickup truck that brings out the innovation and ambition of everyone involved.

As one of the most enduring symbols of vintage Americana, buyers have high expectations, and at Spirit Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we understand this better than anyone. This is why we carry the very best trucks that Ram has to offer, and with the offerings from the new model year generating great excitement, you’ll be pleased to know that we have the 2023 Ram 1500 for sale, one of the standout models in the Ram lineup. Today we’ll be taking a look at this exceptional truck and the ways in which it can elevate your daily drive to new heights.

A Breed Apart

To someone who is not fully informed about the intricacies and advantages of what a pickup offers, it is difficult to fully comprehend the differences between the different brands and what makes the Ram 1500 so unique. Luckily, those loyal to the brand in question know the many benefits the Ram lineup delivers yearly. What truly makes the Ram 1500 different from similar offerings from Ford and Chevy is the vehicle’s ability to seamlessly blend the potency and prowess that one would expect from a pickup but also place a great deal of emphasis on the comfort and amenities that are most often associated with a luxury sedan. Not only does this merge two aspects normally at opposite ends of the spectrum, but it also shows a different mode of thought than some of the other vehicles in its class. Who says you can’t have luxury and style packed into a rugged pickup?

Unmitigated Performance and Potency

Naturally, when anyone looks at a pickup truck and notices its dominating presence, the first question they might ask is, “What’s underneath the hood?” Having a highly capable powertrain is certainly essential when it comes to having a versatile pickup, and as we’ll soon see, the Ram 1500 offers the very best. The standard engine for the Ram 1500 takes the form of a 3.6L V6, propelling the Ram 1500 forward with 305 hp and generating 273 lb-ft of torque; it’s a base offering that’s anything but basic. On the contrary, it’s highly capable.

A name synonymous with Ram is HEMI, and you can rest assured that for those who want to take their performance to the absolute maximum, there’s one available. A 5.7L HEMI V8 delivers 395 hp and can generate 410 lb-ft of torque with minimal effort. Not only does this raise the stakes as far as performance is concerned, but allows for an impressive towing capacity of 12,750 lbs. Both the HEMI and V6 come equipped with eTorque, Ram’s light hybrid technology, which helps recycle power and improve fuel economy. Both engines are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission, allowing the Ram 1500 to shift gears seamlessly.

2023 will also be the final year the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 will be available. The engine has been a valuable commodity for many. With its capability to generate 480 lb-ft of torque and push the horsepower to 260 hp, it’s going out with a bang. Aside from these impressive specifications, a towing capacity of 9,600 lbs makes it the most formidable and capable diesel powertrain on the road today.

An Interior Packed With Luxury and Sophistication

One look at the Ram 1500, and you’ll immediately notice its commanding presence and ability to make a remarkable first impression, no matter where it goes. And, as has been par for the course with Ram for the past several years, the exterior is matched by the spacious and refined interior. Come with us now as we open the driver’s side door, get behind the wheel, and immerse ourselves in the wonderful lap of luxury. Anchored by a standard 8-inch infotainment screen, though a 12-inch upgrade is available, the interior of the Ram 1500 has a knack for style that doesn’t come close to skimping on comfort. Offering more space than Ford and Chevy and utilizing a two-toned color scheme with more in common with a European luxury sedan than a rugged pickup.

Perhaps the most exciting feature to be found in the vehicle’s interior are the items that the vertical infotainment screen grants the driver access to. UConnect 5C, the newest software update to the Stallantis brand, places advanced technology at your fingertips. Some of the features that Ram has brought to the table for the 2023 model year are split-screen capability and personalized music stations from Pandora. Compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto devices is also included. The new addition of the Know & Go app educates the driver about some of the safety and driving assistance features that can be utilized on the road. Education and oversight is an award-winning combination.

Driving Assistance and Safety

With the addition of the Know & Go app, Ram owners not only have access to the features that enhance safety but will have the advantage of fully comprehending their purpose and utilization. Safety is the most important aspect of any vehicle, which is the final subject we’ll be exploring during this examination. Perhaps one of the biggest accomplishments for the Ram 1500 this year was being awarded the highly coveted five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in collision testing. And, as we’ll see, some of the available features on the 2023 Ram 1500 are exceptional in their quality.

Some of the available features that are essential for any driver or destination include adaptive cruise control and automatic high beams. Both of these features are highly recommended, as one allows drivers to maintain a safe following distance during highway driving, allowing improved reaction time. The other allows for tightened visibility when needed and looks after some of the other vehicles on the road by disengaging in the event of oncoming traffic. Forward collision warning with active braking is also present to provide oversight.

While the safety and driving assistance features included with the Ram 1500 are meant to enhance your travels, they in no way replace the responsible habits of an experienced driver. Maintain focus on the road and obey all traffic laws at all times.

A blue 2024 Ram 1500 REV is shown from the front while charging

If someone had remarked several years ago that there would come a time when pickup trucks would no longer need fossil fuel to perform their tasks and would be completely electric, the statement might have been met with doubt and maybe even laughter. After all, the early all-electric vehicles were compact cars that were excellent at cutting fuel costs from the budgets of many consumers but weren’t exactly known for their performance or towing prowess. Well, the times have changed since those days, and with SUVs getting the EV treatment, it only seems natural that the pickup would follow suit.

With the Ford F-150 Lightning already rolling off the assembly lines and the Chevy Silverado 1500 EV preparing to debut, Ram is set to make an entrance that will blow the minds and expectations of the industry completely away. While finding a Ram 1500 for sale at Spirit Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram has always been readily available with an extensive lineup of trims, the upcoming arrival of the Ram 1500 REV is something to get excited about. Come with us now as we take a look at everything we know about this highly anticipated addition to the exceptional Ram truck lineup.

It’s Not Just an EV; It’s an REV

The common abbreviation assisted with many of the hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and vehicles that only operate on electricity is simply known as EV (Electric Vehicle). Always one to operate outside of the box and not within it, Ram has set itself apart from this concept from the very beginning. Instead of an EV, Ram is calling their vehicle a REV (Revolutionary Electric Vehicle). Every journey begins with a single step; for Ram, this single step takes the form of a concept vehicle.

As development began, Ram had its work cut out for them. Not only would they have to develop an exclusively electric truck, but it would also have to perform at an exceptional level and stand out from the competition. It all began with the design of the truck’s foundation in the form of the STLA frame. Constructed with the body on the frame of the truck, it results in a longer length with not just space for a larger battery but more room in the cabin for passengers and cargo.

The sleek aerodynamic shape of the exterior is unlike any other pickup on the market today, which shows the level of dedication that Ram has placed into the newest member of their fleet. Even their truck bed has been redesigned to have certain sections and tiers to maximize storage capacity for a wide range of tasks and activities. Speaking of which, Ram has also introduced the concept of the “frunk,” a front-end storage cabin where the gas-fueled engine would normally go, which is something we haven’t seen since the glory days of the Volkswagen Beetle. With such a bold idea in the works, many were waiting on bated breath as to what would come next. If the rough draft of Ram’s new vehicle was exciting, the final masterpiece would surely be nothing short of a stroke of genius.

It Will Be Available in a Variety of Trims

With similar offerings from Ford and Chevy already raising the bar higher than it’s ever been in previous years, the Ram 1500 REV certainly has some stiff competition prior to its debut. The available pictures that Ram has released to the public show a vehicle that’s set to dominate the entire industry. And believe us when we say everything is different from the ground up. Even the front end is illuminated with the logo shining bright as if to lead the way for the entire industry, and, based on what we’ve seen so far, that could very well be the expected outcome.

As is par for the course with Ram, the REV will come in a variety of different trim levels, seven to be precise, which will cater to and adhere to the needs of the many drivers who favor Ram over its competitors. These will be the Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel, Longhorn, Limited, and Tungsten. The individual attributes and advantages of each try have not been announced. Still, if they’re anything like their gas-fueled counterparts, you can expect that there will be plenty of extras and amenities to complement each one.

What We know About Its Performance

Naturally, there’s considerable speculation as to what’s underneath the hood, and at the time of this publication, these are details that have yet to be revealed to the public. And, while it’s far too early to provide a complete breakdown, the announcements that Ram has made regarding its powertrain certainly speak to the level of ambition of the manufacturer. According to Car and Driver, its smaller 168-kWh battery option will offer 654 hp and 620 lb-ft of torque, while details regarding the larger 229.0-kWh battery are still unknown.

Ram has stated that the REV will have electrical motors placed at both the front and rear of the vehicle. With its chassis specifically designed to house larger batteries than normal, we can only assume the horsepower rating will be nothing short of impressive. AWD will come standard, and the REV will also have four-wheel turning capability, maximizing maneuverability.

It’s What’s Inside That Counts the Most

With so much ambition regarding the exterior design and powertrain, it’s only natural that the REV would have a considerable amount of distinction regarding the interior. And from what we’ve seen so far, Ram once again elevates sophistication and refinement to a level that other trucks simply can’t replicate. As we previously mentioned when we explored the concept vehicle, Ram has managed to design an interior that’s more versatile than the average truck cabin. A variety of storage and seating arrangements will allow the REV to conform to any purpose that drivers see fit. Whether you’re on the job site, off of the road, or within the city limits, you’ll be able to adapt to each situation with relative ease instantly.

Perhaps the most impressive part of the REV is the two 14.5-inch infotainment screens, which might take up a considerable portion of the center console than drivers are used to, but it’s more advanced than anything else we’ve seen before. Not only will the vertical touchscreen grant access to all of the amenities that Ram will include, such as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but a new system that links the truck to the security of your home. Known as Smart Home Control, your home’s lights, thermostat, and other features can be controlled right from the infotainment screen. The future is here, and its name is Ram.

A red 2023 Jeep Wrangler for sale near you is shown from the front driving on an open road.

Let’s face it––when you see a Wrangler on the streets, you know it’s a Jeep. There’s no mistaking its stand-out boxy frame or its eyes-wide-open headlamps. You know you want to get one. In fact, you’ve probably spent countless hours searching phrases like “Jeep Wrangler for sale near me” before finding Spirit Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. But how do you even begin narrowing all the Wrangler options out there?

There are a lot of Wrangler trims and packages to select from, making choosing the perfect Jeep tough. The Wrangler, as we know it, has been on the market since the 1980s, meaning there is even more variety to pick from if you are shopping used. Don’t get us wrong, we don’t think there is really the possibility of making a bad choice when it comes to the Jeep Wrangler. But like its drivers, the Wrangler is diverse and fits into dozens of different lifestyles. Choosing the trim that works for your daily driving needs might be tricky if you don’t know the brand or are just casually acquainted with it.

Find the Right Wrangler for Your Needs

If you are wondering which Wrangler is best for regular daily driving around Southern New Jersey, we’re here to help. When you see ads for the Wrangler, it is always tackling sandy deserts, mountainous trails, or someplace far off the beaten path. Where does your day fit in? Luckily there’s a Jeep Wrangler for you! We’ve taken a look at two trim options that are great for just getting you through the day. Why two? Because it was impossible to pick just one!

Before we dive in, make sure you ask yourself a few questions to help you narrow down your choices. First off, do you have a family, or are you usually a solo driver? This can help you determine if a two-door or four-door model is right for you. How about your daily drive? We’re talking urban versus rural. Naturally, if you’re a country driver, you might want to think about a little more power in order to tackle uneven terrain on gravel roads or tough winter weather. Whereas if you tend to stick more to the concrete jungle, you might be concerned more with tech like real-time GPS to help prevent you from taking a wrong turn.

Okay, now that you’ve thought about it, let’s check out what we–your NJ Jeep Wrangler dealer–think are the top two Jeep trims for your daily drive and why.

Go Anywhere in the Wrangler Sport S

The Sport S trim is one level above the entry-level Wrangler Sport. This trim is great for daily adventures, whether to the grocery store, work, or a local hiking trail. The flexibility of the Wrangler’s Sport S trim makes it suitable for multiple lifestyles. First off, it comes available as either a two-door or four-door model. This is great news for growing families. Having access to the backseat when you have small children is essential. Don’t think a Wrangler isn’t family-friendly because it loves children and pets.

Jeep designed the Wrangler Sport S trim to be a daily driving machine. It included a fuel-efficient Direct-Injection Turbo Engine with eTorque that gives the Wrangler plenty of power while saving you a few dollars at the pump. This is especially great news if your daily ride includes lots of start-and-stop city traffic or highway commuting.

The Sport S trim, as we mentioned, is a level above the basic entry-level Sport trim, making it a high-value pick. Depending on if you decide to go new or pre-owned, you can scoop up a lot of features like heated mirrors and a driver TFT display. If you want more, the Sport S trim features plenty of upgrades and additional packages to customize your vehicle, like remote start and an enhanced Alpine stereo system.

At your Glassboro Jeep dealer, we know that it can get downright frigid during New Jersey winters, but the optional Cold Weather Group with its heated steering wheel and heated seats can be just what you need to warm up your chilly morning routine. If you often find yourself navigating busy parking lots and tight spaces, the Safety Group provides an extra set of eyes thanks to Blind-Spot Detection and ParkSense parking sensors.

Enjoy Extra Comfort in the Wrangler Sahara

If you spend more time in your vehicle than you would like, a little extra can go a long way in terms of comfort and convenience. That’s where the Jeep Wrangler Sahara comes into play. This is a superb option for anyone looking for that Jeep power with all the modern tech and comfort conveniences like leather seats and the ability to connect your smartphone to access playlists and navigation. It’s no wonder the Sahara trim is so popular at New Jersey Jeep dealers.

In fact, the Saraha has been a go-to choice for countless Wrangler drivers since it was first introduced in 1988. You’ll probably notice right away the Wrangler Saraha tends to look a little more sophisticated than your typical Wrangler, with color-matched fenders and other small details. This trim fits in great uptown, downtown, and out of town. That’s great news for people who never know where their day might take them.

The Saraha’s four doors make accessing the backseat easy for parents with small children or any driver who often brings along additional work materials, gear, or daily essentials. Plus, many features that are add-ons for trims like the Sport S are standard on the Saraha. One example is larger standard wheels, making the Saraha handle a little bit better on highways and paved roads.

With the standard V6 engine and available Selec-Trac full-time 4×4, drivers can feel confident that they are in control no matter what the road throws at them. While the Saraha doesn’t have the extreme performance of a trim like the Rubicon, it’s more than capable of handling a little rough and tumble now and then. Like the Sport S, the Sahara’s eTorque system gives the vehicle a respectable fuel economy that makes it a good daily commuter without skimping on power.

Inside, drivers will see little added touches of luxury like available leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and dark tinted windows that make all the difference when you’re on the road after a long day. Advanced tech like Uconnect 4C NAV lets drivers seamlessly sync their compatible smartphone with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to bring along their favorite music and podcasts or send or receive messages. Plus, the 4G Wi-Fi hotspot means you’ll always be connected no matter where you roam.

Great Trims For Everyone

What makes the Jeep Wrangler so popular? Well, we imagine it’s a lot of things. But one thing you can bet on is its ability to appeal to a large number of drivers. Thanks to its numerous trim options, there is a Jeep Wrangler for effectively any driver. Different lifestyles call for different vehicles, but if you’re thinking about getting behind the wheel of a Wrangler, you’re in luck because it has a number of trim options and special editions to accommodate you.

Whether you’re looking for a basic grocery-getter or a little extra comfort and convenience for your daily commute, the Wrangler is ready for you. The Wrangler has earned a reputation as a tough-as-nails off-roading monster, but that’s just one side of this versatile vehicle. The two trim levels we highlighted are two of the best Wranglers for everyday use around New Jersey. They are capable and offer lots of value for your dollar. Today, we’ll be going over all of the great qualities and features in the Dodge SUV lineup because we believe in giving you all of the information you need to choose a vehicle that’s not just great but 100% perfect for you.

Dodge Hornet

The Dodge Hornet is an all-new model for the 2023 model year, giving entry-level enthusiasts a chance to get behind the wheel of the muscle Dodge is known for at a value price. Best-in-class performance is available with two distinct models, each of which has standard all-wheel drive.

With the Hornet GT, you’ll get a 2.0L I-4 engine under the hood, giving you 268 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque at your disposal. This powertrain makes for a fast and athletic vehicle compared to other options in the compact crossover segment. If that’s not enough thrill for you, you can always shift into Sport Mode to unlock optimized upshifts, sharper throttle response, and tighter steering.

The Hornet R/T is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), so you’ll have an electric motor boosting the engine’s stats, raising overall capability to 285 horsepower and a whopping 383 lb-ft of torque. The R/T also gives you all of the benefits of a hybrid, with a 30-mile all-electric range that lets you drive it like an EV without using any gasoline at all. Or you can save that electric energy for the on-demand PowerShot feature, which lets you give the engine an extra burst of power whenever you need it.

Whichever option you choose, you’ll get plenty of useful features, like a standard 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital cockpit cluster screen. Together, these displays provide 22.5 inches of screen space, making it easy to check diagnostics, warnings, navigation, and other features at a glance, so you can get informed and then get your eyes back on the road ASAP. The infotainment system comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can easily connect your smartphone to the Hornet’s interface, and it also features Amazon Alexa built-in, so you can give voice commands and even control smart devices at home from the road.

Dodge Durango

While the Hornet is bursting onto the scene this year, the Dodge Durango is a tried-and-true model that has been around for decades and is still delivering thrills, style, and power. A larger model than the Hornet, the Durango has three rows of seating, allowing it to carry up to seven people at once. Of course, you can always fold the rear seats flat if you’d rather have more room for cargo.

Where most SUVs come standard with a four-cylinder engine, the Durango doesn’t go any lower than a 3.6-liter V6 that provides 295 horsepower. You also have the option to upgrade to a 5.7L V8 that ups that figure to 360 horsepower. With the 5.7L V8 under the hood, the Durango has a towing capacity of up to 8,700 lbs, so you can easily bring a trailer along for your next vacation or bring your boat down to the Delaware River for a relaxing outdoor getaway. The V8 also makes for faster acceleration; according to testing done by Car and Driver, the Durango can go from zero to sixty in 7.4 seconds with the power of the V6 engine and in 6.2 seconds with the V8.

The Durango may project power first and foremost, but don’t think that it skimps when it comes to comfort. For the 2023 model year, heated seats are now standard across all trim levels, so you can quickly warm up on a cold winter’s day, even if you opt for the base SXT trim. The seats and controls have all been designed with ergonomics in mind, so you’ll stay comfortable whether you’re cruising around town or trekking across the country. Premium materials give the cabin a classy look that’s sure to impress anybody you might be picking up from the airport, from business associates to inlaws.

Dodge Durango SRT 392

If the regular Durango doesn’t satisfy your need for muscle, then you can always upgrade to the Durango SRT 392. With a 6.4L HEMI V8 engine, this model delivers 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, giving this three-row SUV the power to go from zero to sixty in just 4.1 seconds. That raw gusto is paired with sharp steering and a stiff suspension that makes this model an excellent choice for driving enthusiasts who want top-notch performance but can’t fit their life into a tiny coupe.

The Durango SRT 392 is certainly pricier, but for that extra money, you’ll get plenty of luxury features on top of the upgraded powertrain. It comes standard with heated and ventilated front seats, heated captain’s chairs in the second row, and three-zone climate control, so you and all your passengers can get comfortable in any weather. Built-in navigation also comes standard, so you’ll always know where you’re going, even if you leave your phone behind. You’ll also get leather upholstery, paddle shifters on the steering wheel, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen.

Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat

If the Durango SRT 392 doesn’t have enough power to satisfy you, then most automakers definitely won’t be able to offer you an SUV that meets your needs. But, of course, Dodge isn’t like most automakers. For the driver who truly needs to feel the thrill of putting the pedal to the metal, the Durango SRT Hellcat is here to deliver with a supercharged 6.2L HEMI Hellcat V8 engine that delivers an absolutely mind-blowing 710 horsepower and 645 lb-ft of torque. It can go from zero to sixty in a mere 3.6 seconds, and it comes with a specially-tuned suspension system, adaptive dampers, and Brembo brakes in order to keep you in control at all times, no matter how much of that power you’re able to utilize.

The 2021 Durango Hellcat was only available in a single trim, but the 2023 model has three levels for drivers to choose from. The base gives you this powerful SUV at the most affordable price possible, plus you get high-performance Laguna leather seats, a sunroof, and a more expansive suite of driver assistance features. With the top-level Premium, you get all that plus exclusive red seat belts, carbon fiber accents throughout the cabin, a leather-wrapped instrument panel, and an upgraded sound system with nineteen speakers.

A black 2021 Ram 1500 Classic, a popular used Ram for sale, on a city street.

Back in 2019, Ram did something different. That year, Ram introduced the latest version of its popular Ram 1500 truck. This marked the fifth generation of this full-size pickup truck, which traced its lineage back to the 1981 Dodge Ram truck. There was nothing unusual about this, as automakers always come out with new versions of their most popular models, each referred to as a new generation. No, the unusual thing was that Ram continued to manufacture and offer the prior fourth-generation model with the name Ram Classic.

The Ram Classic 1500 is not simply last year’s model. Ram did things to upgrade it, so it offers more than the 2018 Ram 1500, the last model made under the fourth generation. This then gives you many choices. You can buy a used Ram truck from the fourth or fifth generation, you can buy a new or used Ram Classic 1500, or you can even buy a new fifth-generation Ram 1500. This increases the options and choices for drivers like you. So, if you are looking for a used Ram for sale near you, your best bet is to stop by our dealership, where you can find a vast inventory of new and used Ram trucks. At Spirit Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we proudly serve drivers all over New Jersey and northern Delaware who are looking for a great deal on their next truck.

The Ram Classic Continues the Benefits of the Fourth Generation

Ram did something different when it came out with the fifth generation Ram 1500 in 2019: it kept making the fourth generation model as the Ram Classic 1500. This meant that drivers who wanted a new Ram 1500 with a regular cab could still get one as a 2019 Ram Classic 1500. This is because the fifth generation Ram 1500 discontinued the regular cab, going forward only with models that featured a crew cab or quad cab. For those who don’t know, the quad cab is Ram’s name for the double or extended cab with two rows of seats, two full-size, and two half-size doors.

When you visit a New Jersey Ram 1500 dealership, you can get your Ram Classic with a choice of two different engines. These were carried over from the fourth-generation Ram 1500 and have continued to be offered throughout the run of the Ram Classic. The 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 is economical, with the ability to get up to 20 MPG combined on rear-wheel drive Ram Classic trucks. This engine provides a solid 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. You can also get a Ram Classic with a powerful 5.7-liter HEMI “Eagle” V8. This delivers an incredible 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. Both of these come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that helps you get the most out of your engine.

The 2019 Ram Classic 1500 also offers a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 that was available for the prior year’s Ram 1500. This engine uses a turbocharger to deliver 240 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. It also provided exceptional fuel economy, with the rear-wheel drive model giving you 20 MPG in the city and the four-wheel drive truck providing a similarly impressive 19 MPG in the city. However, Ram chose to discontinue this option on the Ram Classic after 2019.

One of the biggest benefits of choosing a Ram Classic is found in its capability. This truck can tow up to 10,680 pounds or haul up to 1,930 pounds of cargo in its payload bed, depending on which cab style, engine, drivetrain, and model year you chose. Ram has always offered three different payload beds on the Ram Classic. The short 5’7” bed provides 53.9 cubic feet of space, while the standard 6’4” bed gives you up to 61.5 cubic feet for cargo. Still, the 8’ long bed provides the largest amount of cargo space with an impressive 74.7 cubic feet for all of your hauling needs.

At an MSRP below the comparable trim level on a fifth-generation Ram 1500, the Ram Classic represents a very affordable way to get exceptional Ram truck performance. This is especially true if you find a used model at our Wilmington Ram dealer.

The Ram Classic Offers More Than the Fourth Generation Ram

Even though the Ram Classic has many of the same specifications as the fourth-generation Ram truck, including its rugged good looks, it offers some things that the fourth generation does not. This is because the folks at Ram wanted to make sure to give drivers like you some of the advanced technology features that have helped Ram trucks stand out from an increasingly crowded pack of pickups.

For one thing, you can tell the difference between a Ram Classic and the fourth-generation Ram 1500 by looking at the payload bed. Ram equipped the Ram Classic with a set of LED bed lights. These will help you with loading and unloading your Ram Classic at night. In addition, the Ram Classic has special badges that say Classic, just in case you’re a little confused.

Ram has also given the Ram Classic some technological features that were not standard on the 2018 Ram 1500, the last year of the fourth generation. For one thing, every Ram Classic is equipped with the Uconnect system on a five or 8.4-inch touchscreen, depending on the year. This system provides onboard Wi-Fi, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. This allows you to connect your smartphones to the Uconnect system so you can stream your favorite apps. The upgraded 8.4-inch system comes with a built-in turn-by-turn navigation system.

There is also a standard rearview camera, improving the safety of driving your Ram Classic. Ram also equipped the Ram Classic with available rear parking sensors. This eventually came to be known as the ParkSense Rear Park Assist System. Opting for this equipment can help you with hitching a trailer and backing out of a parking space in your Ram Classic.

Some Changes to the Ram Classic Over the Years

When Ram first began offering the Ram Classic in 2019, it included an available EcoDiesel engine. In addition, Ram also offered more trim levels that could be found at a Ram dealership in New Jersey. In fact, there were five different trim levels on the Ram Classic that year. The Tradesman is the entry-level model, with other models being the Express, Big Horn/Lone Star, and SSV, with the Warlock trim being introduced a little later. The Big Horn/Lone Star offers the most in the way of creature comfort features in its cab, with the luxury Lone Star model only sold in Texas, making it hard to get elsewhere in the country.

When the 2020 model year dawned, Ram cut back on the trim levels for the Ram Classic. Starting in 2020, the company only offered the Tradesman, Express, and Warlock models of the Ram Classic, with the Warlock providing the most in the way of comfort features. The Warlock rides on larger 20-inch alloy wheels. It also has things like a cloth interior upholstery on the seats, carpet floor covering, and heated power-folding side mirrors. These can make driving your Ram Classic more enjoyable.

A Classic Ram Truck, Whether You Buy One New or Used

The Ram Classic gives you all of the wonderful things you love about a Ram truck. You can choose between an economical V6 engine and a powerful HEMI V8. However, if you want a Ram Classic with a diesel engine, you’ll have to look for a used 2019 Ram Classic. You also get the options of rear-wheel and four-wheel drive, with your choice of a regular cab, quad cab, or crew cab. With the added technology features on the Ram Classic, it gives you more bang for your buck than a fourth-generation model. With a lower MSRP than a fifth-generation Ram 1500, you can stretch your dollars farther with a Ram Classic. Come in today, and see why the classic move is to make your next truck a new or used Ram Classic from us!

Ram trucks may be part of a long legacy of greatness, but don’t think they’re stuck in the past. Ram’s lineup uses high-tech equipment for everything from efficient powertrains to interior convenience to advanced safety tech. When you buy a new Ram, you can rest assured that you’re getting the best that the auto industry has to offer. As your Wilmington Ram dealer, we make sure to keep up with the latest news about Ram so that we can keep you informed about your choices. If you’re interested in getting behind the wheel of a 2023 Ram, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s take a look at everything that this year’s lineup has in store.

The Ram 1500

The most versatile option in Ram’s lineup, the 1500 pickup has options for everyone, from tradespeople looking for a basic work truck to those who want to pull out all the stops when it comes to luxury. Powertrains for the 2023 model year include a 305-horsepower V6 and a 395-horsepower V8, both of which use eTorque mild hybrid assist to improve efficiency and provide additional torque. There’s also a 260-horsepower EcoDiesel V6 engine if you prefer diesel over gasoline.

When properly equipped, the Ram 1500 can tow up to 12,750 lbs and carry up to 2,300 lbs of payload. That should be more than enough to meet the needs of most truck drivers, whether you need to transport heavy equipment for work or you’re looking to tow your boat down to Newport Boat Ramp for a day on the Christina River. Ram’s new trailer hitch light makes it easy to view your hitch clearly, day or night, so you can connect your trailer safely and confidently, even in dim conditions.

The exterior has plenty of practical features that improve both the driving experience and your ability to make use of your truck while it’s parked at a worksite or campground. LED headlights, taillights, and fog lamps are extra bright, so you can confidently navigate dark country backroads. Power running boards stay out of the way when you don’t need them and automatically deploy when a door opens, giving you an easy step up into or out of the cab.

The multifunction tailgate gives you many ways to access the bed. It can open down to the traditional flat 180° or the 60/40 split swing-away doors can open 88°, even when you’ve got a trailer hitched up. The tailgate is strong enough to hold up to 2,000 lbs, so you can use it as a workbench even with heavy-duty equipment or invite all your friends to join your tailgate party without worrying about coming close to reaching the weight limit. With the available power release, you can open the tailgate without leaving the cab by simply pressing a button on the key fob.

Inside, you’ll find plenty of useful places to tuck away your cargo, including upper and lower glove compartments, a reconfigurable center console, and class-exclusive in-floor storage. The infotainment setup allows you to wirelessly connect up to two phones using Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can access all your apps through the truck’s interface. That interface includes not only a centrally located touchscreen but also an available digital cluster placed right behind the steering wheel, putting key information directly in the driver’s line of sight.

The Ram 1500 TRX

Looking to tackle the great outdoors? Consider the Ram 1500 TRX. This extra-wide version of the 1500 packs a mind-boggling 702 horses under its hood, making it an incredibly fast ride despite its size, able to go from zero to sixty in just 4.5 seconds. Its 35-inch tires are designed to tackle any terrain, and factory-installed Bilstein shocks make for a nice, smooth drive, even when the trail gets bumpy.

The TRX features eight different drive modes that you can switch between as conditions change. Each one is perfectly tuned to provide optimum torque split, horsepower, and gear ratio for the specific situation so that you can stay in complete control. The modes are:
Auto Mode- Automatically adapts to different conditions.
Sport Mode – Makes for thrilling responsiveness, reducing transmission shift times and tightening the suspension.
Snow Mode – Gives you ideal traction in cold weather.
Mud/Sand Mode – Helps you navigate uneven terrain.
Rock Mode – Gives you the torque you need to crawl over boulders.
Baja Mode – Lets you cruise through the open desert.
Tow Mode – Creates optimal balance while trailering and adjusts the suspension to offset pitch and yaw.
Custom Mode – Lets you adjust your settings to your own specifications beforehand.

The Ram 2500 and 3500 HD

If you need to tackle hard jobs and the Ram 1500 just doesn’t have enough capacity to handle your needs, then the Ram 2500 or 3500 HD has your back. You have your choice of three capable engines. The base option is a 410-horsepower 6.4L V8 that produces 429 lb-ft of maximum torque. If you’re looking for a diesel option, you can switch that out for a 6.7L Cummins diesel inline-six that provides 370 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque. Both of those are available on either the Ram 2500 or Ram 3500. The final engine option, a high-output version of the diesel engine, is exclusive to the 3500. It gives you 420 horsepower and an impressive 1,075 lb-ft of torque.

That power translates to plenty of towing and hauling capability. With the V8, the Ram 2500 can tow up to 17,540 lbs and haul up to 4,010 lbs of payload. With the diesel engine, those figures go up to a 20,000 lb towing capacity and a 3,160 lb payload capacity. All the way up at the top, the Ram 3500 equipped with the high-output Cummins can tow a whopping 37,090 lbs and haul a payload of 6,570 lbs. That should be able to handle just about anything you throw at it.

With the available Trailer 360° Surround View Camera, you can get a bird’s eye view of what’s going on around your trailer. You can use the touchscreen to quickly and easily switch between different camera views, including the backup camera, forward-facing camera, cargo camera, and trailer reverse guidance, so you can get the visuals you need to help you park, hitch up your trailer, navigate tight spaces, or just get an idea of what’s going on around your truck. The Digital Rearview Mirror with Tow Mode gives you another way to get a good view, providing a live feed from a trailer camera connected to the rear bumper, so you get an unobstructed view of what’s behind you.

Front-view of a white 2022 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk splashing through water.

Some folks are satisfied with a cookie-cutter compact SUV. These smaller models often look alike with similar engines, interior design, and other features. Some of these models even look so much alike that the only way to tell them apart is by looking at their hood or trunk logo. This is not the case with the Jeep Cherokee. If you see a Jeep Cherokee for sale, you know exactly what you are looking at before you can even read the word “Jeep” on its hood. Not only does it resemble its fellow Jeep SUV models, the Grand Cherokee and the Compass, but it also has features you aren’t going to find on your run-of-the-mill compact SUV.

For example, the 2022 Jeep Cherokee has an available 4X4 drivetrain. This differs from the all-wheel drive offered on many compact SUVs from other automakers, giving you off-road ability as opposed to simply increasing on-road traction. At Spirit Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we proudly offer drivers like you the 2022 Jeep Cherokee. We are a full-service dealership offering great deals on new and used cars, trucks, and SUVs, including the full lineup of Jeep models. We invite you to come in today and see why the Jeep Cherokee is perfect for New Jersey drivers like you. For now, let’s take a deeper look at the Compass and what it has to offer.

Trims and MSRP

With a base MSRP of $34,895, the 2022 Jeep Cherokee is affordable to a range of drivers.[a] Jeep has decided to make a number of changes for the 2022 model year of the Cherokee and its lineup of trims. There are no special edition models of the Cherokee for 2022, so the Freedom, Altitude, 80th Anniversary, and High Altitude are no longer offered. While the upper trim level Limited and Trailhawk have been carried over from the prior model, the Latitude and Latitude Plus trims have been discontinued. In their place, Jeep has carried over the Latitude Lux and introduced the all-new Cherokee X model.

The Latitude Lux has front-wheel drive and is designed for comfort, featuring premium Nappa leather-trimmed seats. Meanwhile, the Cherokee X has a standard 4X4 drivetrain with a one-inch factory lift, giving it 8.7-inches of ground clearance and making it ready for any off-road adventure. This same split is also seen in the upper trims. The Trailhawk is geared more for off-roading with trail-rated capability, a rear locking differential, skid plates, and signature red tow hooks. While also sporting a standard 4X4 like the Trailhawk, the Cherokee Limited is more about passenger comfort with a CommandView dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a power liftgate, and an Alpine premium audio system.

Engine Options and Performance

For 2022, Jeep has decided to make one change to its powertrain options on the Cherokee. The 2.4-liter Tigershark I-4 is no longer offered. In any case, this was somewhat underpowered compared to the other engines. For example, the 2021 Cherokee with this engine could only tow 2,000 lbs, only half of the capability of the other two powertrains.

Each model of the 2022 Jeep Cherokee comes with a standard engine, with the option for another option if the driver desires. The standard engine is a 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 gas engine. This dual overhead cam design (DOHC) has 24 valves feeding the engine’s six cylinders. It uses sequential, multiport fuel injection to deliver up to 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque. When equipped with this engine, the 2022 Cherokee can tow up to 4,500 lbs. It also provides impressive acceleration, propelling the Cherokee from 0 to 60 mph in just 7.6 seconds.

The one engine option is a 2.0-liter Turbo I-4 engine. This also has a DOHC configuration, with 16 valves for its four cylinders. It features variable-valve timing to improve efficient performance and direct fuel injection to provide up to 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The Cherokee with this optional engine can tow up to 4,000 lbs. Each engine comes paired with a 948TE nine-speed automatic transmission, helping with more efficient performance. In addition, Jeep has given each option an engine stop-start system, which automatically turns the engine off instead of idling at a light, and then restarts it as soon as you take your foot off the brake.

As a result, the 2022 Jeep Cherokee can be relied on to provide you with solid fuel economy. For example, the standard V6 engine and a 4X4 drivetrain can deliver up to 27 MPG on the highway. However, if your biggest concern is getting the most mileage for each gallon of gas, then your best bet is probably the Cherokee with the optional Turbo I-4 and front-wheel drive. This will give you a combined 26 MPG, an impressive number for any model in the Cherokee’s vehicle class.

Interior Design and Cargo Space

The 2022 Jeep Cherokee sports surprisingly roomy and comfortable passenger space. There is over 100 cu.ft. of space for 5 passengers to stretch out in, making for an enjoyable ride regardless of whether you are taking your Cherokee off-road or sticking to the local highway. The Cherokee X has a cloth interior, while on the opposite end of the trim spectrum, the Limited provides you with leather seats. The front seats on all models are heated, which will come in handy on cold New Jersey mornings.

The designers at Jeep have done an excellent job apportioning the interior space in the 2022 Cherokee between the front and back rows of seats. While the front-row passengers will enjoy 41.1 inches of legroom, those seated in the back won’t be complaining either, with about 40.3 inches of legroom. As a result, the Cherokee has a truly functional back seat for up to 3 passengers. There is 25.8 cu.ft. of space in the Cherokee’s trunk, which should be more than enough for grocery shopping trips and taking the kids to school. If you need more room, you can easily fold down the rear seats to provide a total 54.7 cu.ft. of cargo space.

Safety and Entertainment Technology

Jeep has equipped each 2022 Cherokee model with a standard set of safety features. These active driver assistance features include blind spot monitoring and rear cross path detection. This will warn you if another vehicle is traveling in your Cherokee’s blind spot when you change lanes on the highway or put your vehicle into reverse. The LaneSense lane departure warning system works similarly, alerting you if you start to drift out of your lane on the highway. The 2022 Cherokee also has a full-speed forward collision warning system with active braking. If the system detects that you are approaching the vehicle in front of you with too much speed, it will make a sound to alert you to slow down. It will also engage the emergency brakes to bring your Cherokee to a stop, either avoiding the collision or reducing the impact of a crash.

This technology is not just designed to keep you safe; it can also keep you connected and entertained. Each 2022 Cherokee has the Jeep Uconnect 5 system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen. This will help keep you and your passengers connected with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it also features a 6-speaker audio system that delivers exceptional sound quality. For folks who really love music, the Cherokee Limited has a standard 10-speaker Alpine premium audio system. In addition, the Limited has an optional Uconnect 4C NAV infotainment system that adds a built-in navigation system and pinch-to-zoom display that can expand anything you are displaying on your touchscreen.

Ready to Venture on and off the Pavement

The 2022 Jeep Cherokee is a breed apart from your average compact SUV. It has a roomy interior and plenty of trunk space, coupled with the rugged exterior looks that let you know you are driving a Jeep. If you choose the models with 4X4, you will enjoy hitting the trails and pushing your Cherokee to the limit. If you opt for one with front-wheel drive and the available I-4 engine, you will get the fuel economy that will make commuting in New Jersey a little less painful. No matter which options you choose, the 2022 Jeep Cherokee will give you performance unlike any you have ever experienced in a compact SUV.

A grey 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L parked on a hill overlooking a lake.

Jeep has always been the adventurer’s go-to car manufacturer. With excellent off-road abilities, rugged frames, and many four-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive options, Jeeps are fun vehicles that are ready for anything. The Jeep family itself contains a dynamic lineup. When you look at its smallest offerings compared to its largest, you almost wouldn’t know that the two came from the same brand if it weren’t for that iconic box-like shape and signature Jeep grille. If you have decided to purchase a used Jeep for sale because you plan on exploring roads less traveled, you could find yourself stuck deciding between one of the brand’s massive offerings or one of its more compact models.

So, let’s compare the smallest Jeep on the market, the Renegade, and its largest SUV for now, the Grand Cherokee L, to see how different they really are. For this piece, we are going to look at the specs of the 2022 models, which have been hitting our used lot more and more in the past few months as 2023 models are being announced. Getting a 2022 Jeep could mean used car prices with just about the most up-to-date technology available from the brand. Without further ado, let’s look at the massive Jeep Grand Cherokee L versus the compact Jeep Renegade.

A close-up of the infotainment screen in a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L

The 2022 Grand Cherokee L

Passenger and Cargo Space

The Grand Cherokee L is a three-row SUV with seating for up to seven. You can opt for either a bench seat in the second row to achieve those full seven seats or get comfortable and spacious captain’s chairs in the second row and max out at six luxurious seats. If you need seating for up a lot of passengers, the Grand Cherokee L is the way to go. (By the way, Jeep makes a regular Cherokee with just two rows of seating and similar features and capabilities). As for choosing between bench seats or captains’ chairs in the second row, bench seats are fine if you’ll mostly be transporting kids. However, if you have long road trips planned with adults, you might want to stick to the captains’ chairs to give everyone ample room.

At just over 204 inches long, 71.5 inches tall, and boasting 152 cubic feet of passenger volume, the Grand Cherokee L is very spacious. Its cabin feels not unlike a mini living room, and you’ll feel a comfortable sense of separation between you and the outside world. Passengers will enjoy ample head and legroom, too. Plus, it provides 17.2 cubic feet of trunk space behind the third row. The back rows fold to make room for even more stuff; 46.9 cubic feet behind the second row and up to 84.6 cubic feet when all the seats are down. Plus, you’ll find convenient cubbies throughout the cabin. If you need space, this is the SUV for you.

Comfort and Luxury

The inside of the Jeep Grand Cherokee L is noticeably pretty. Higher trims enjoy things like leather upholstery, high-tech displays, and wood trim. You’ll even find massaging front seats on the premium trims that will make you never want to get out of the vehicle. It has a good-size 8.4 or 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen as well as built-in navigation with real-time weather and traffic updates to help you stay in the know about what’s happening on the road ahead. Smartphone compatibility comes standard, letting you use your favorite apps in the SUV, as does SiriusXM satellite radio.

Performance

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L has two engine options––a 290 horsepower V6 or a 357 horsepower V8. You can opt for rear or four-wheel drive with the V6, but the V8 only comes with four-wheel drive. The V8 engine can tow up to 7,200 pounds, while its V6 can handle towing 6,200 pounds maximum. Expect smooth handling in both and an eight-speed automatic transmission. As for fuel economy, it’s modest, as to be expected for a vehicle of this size. With the V6, you’ll get 19 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway with front-wheel drive. For the V8, fuel economy drops to 14 MPG in the city and 22 MPG on the highway.

A red 2022 Jeep Renegade driving through a city intersection

The 2022 Jeep Renegade

Passenger and Cargo Space

The 2022 Jeep Renegade is Jeep’s sporty subcompact SUV. With a starting MSRP far less than that of the Grand Cherokee L, it is the more budget-friendly option. The massive price cut makes sense once you know that this pip-squeak is just 166.6 inches long, 66.5 inches tall, and has a modest passenger volume of 100 cubic feet. As a refresher, the Grand Cherokee L is several feet longer, about half a foot taller, and boasts a passenger volume that outpaces the Renegades by over 50 cubic feet. Not to mention, the Renegade has a maximum of 50.8 cubic feet of cargo area, which can’t compete with the 84.6 cubic feet of the Grand Cherokee L. When we say this is a small Jeep, we mean it, but that’s what it is supposed to be.

The Renegade is an admittedly simple vehicle. You aren’t going to see all the bells and whistles found in the Grand Cherokee L, but then again, you aren’t supposed to because that’s not what the Renegade is designed for. However, there is one thing that the Renegade has going for it that the Grand Cherokee L does not: the Trailhawk trim. What it lacks in luxury materials, power, and space, it makes up for with off-road-ready features that will help you tackle tough roads and uneven surfaces with some impressive command.

Comfort and Luxury

We don’t want to say that the Renegade doesn’t have any comfort or luxury features, but we’ll say this: if those features are a priority for you, look at the Grand Cherokee L instead. The Renegade has been criticized for slightly low-quality interior materials, even on upper trims. It does, however, have smartphone compatibility and standard SiriusXM radio, like the Grand Cherokee L, and it gets built-in navigation, too. There aren’t many storage cubbies and compartments in this vehicle, so be prepared to keep your road trip essentials in your lap. Luckily, the rear seats do fold down for times you’re fine with transporting just one passenger and more gear.

Performance

The Renegade has just one engine option, which is a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. You can, should you choose, tow up to 2,000 pounds, which is great for bringing along small recreational equipment. This engine does get some nice fuel economy points, though, achieving 24 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway with front-wheel drive, which far surpasses anything offered on the Grand Cherokee L. Even four-wheel models still see a nice 23 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway.

A silver 2021 Jeep Renegade Limited parked in front of an illuminated building

Large and Luxury or Small and Efficient

So, here’s our take on these two options. If you need a vehicle that has high-end materials, a super spacious, comfortable, and luxury-feeling cabin, great engines, and lots of cargo, then, you want the Grand Cherokee L. Also, if you need space for seven passengers, this is the model you are going to need to get. However, those great features come at a higher cost than the Renegade, and the really great ones on the premium trims come at an even higher cost. If you’re willing to pay it, you’ll find the three-row SUV is a pleasure to drive and simply to be in.

If you are looking for a highly capable, sporty-handling, off-road-ready, and affordable option, the Renegade is your best bet. Its price tag is hard to resist, and if you plan on leaving paved roads, you almost have to choose this one for the Trailhawk trim. Giving you great capability for an affordable price, the Renegade is an excellent small Jeep model. Which one will work best for you? Come down to Spirit Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram to check out both options and find a used model that has all the features you want and need.

An orange 2022 Dodge Charger Hellcat driving on an open road.

Do you want an all-American muscle car? Something that looks mean, has a great profile, puts down lots of power, and gives you the sort of exhilaration and excitement on the road you just won’t find from any other vehicle? Then hands down, you’re going to be eyeing two of the most popular (and two of the last remaining) muscle cars on the market today: the Dodge Charger and the Dodge Challenger. But as you prepare yourself to make a purchase, you’re likely asking, “When I visit a Dodge dealer near me, should I get a Challenger or a Charger?”

It’s an age-old question that dates back decades when it comes time to pick between two similar vehicles from the same brand. They’re both power-hungry cars that burn rubber and are known for their iconic HEMI V8 engines. But which one is right for you? And if given the opportunity, which one should you buy? We’re here to help you iron out a game plan so you know which one to buy and why. This way, when it’s time to visit us at Spirit CDJR, you’ll know exactly which car suits your budget and your rubber-burning desires. So let’s get started with the basics.

A close-up of the paddle shifters on the steering wheel of a 2022 Dodge Charger

Two-Door vs Four-Door

If you’re unfamiliar with the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger, the most obvious difference between the two vehicles is that one is a sports coupe, and the other is a sports sedan. The Challenger is a two-door notchback, while the Charger is an almost full-size four-door sedan. This makes a decided difference in terms of size, cabin volume, and cargo capacity. It also impacts the performance of the two cars, as the Challenger lives up to its sportier looks.

Now, just because the Challenger is a two-door coupe doesn’t mean that the seating arrangements are limited to just two people. In fact, the Challenger actually seats up to five people across two rows. There are even 94 cu.ft. of passenger space and 33.1 inches of rear legroom. Given its size, the Challenger could be a family vehicle, but it wouldn’t make for the most practical family vehicle even if you have small kids who don’t mind sitting in the back. While it can fit up to five people, the Challenger was built for speed.

The Charger also seats up to five people across two rows. However, it comes in a four-door configuration. Unlike the Challenger, the Charger is designed to be more convenient for families with its four doors and larger passenger volume. Thanks to the more spacious cabin, you can comfortably fit a couple of kids and a pet inside. You get a total passenger volume of 105 cu.ft. with an impressive 40.1 inches of rear legroom.

Additionally, both vehicles offer some impressive trunk space, with the Charger’s trunk capacity clocking in at 16.5 cu.ft. of space and the Challenger’s being only slightly smaller at 16.2 cu.ft. of space. You won’t have any problems storing goods in either vehicle. However, you do get more interior options with the Challenger.

Both cars have several different interior color choices available, including Black, Caramel, Ruby Red, Sepia, Hammerhead Gray, and Demonic Red. But the Challenger has both Sport Seats and Performance Seats available in well over a dozen different options, including a variety of materials from Houndstooth cloth to Laguna leather and Alcantara. If interior customization is high on your wishlist for a vehicle, then the Challenger and Charger offer it up in spades.

Rear-Wheel Drive vs All-Wheel Drive

Are you wondering, “Should I go with a rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive car?” Then you will be pleased to know that both the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger are available in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Both vehicles offer all-wheel drive with their SXT and GT trims, although every other trim is rear-wheel drive only. Where the two cars differ is in performance. Both offer Pentastar V6 and HEMI V8 powertrains, but you get more performance out of the Challenger compared to the Charger.

While the horsepower and torque are very similar between the two, the entry-level Charger tops out at 292 hp with a Pentastar V6, while the base Challenger has 303 hp from the same engine. Further, the Charger is a larger vehicle with more weight to move around and more passenger volume, which comes at the expense of peak performance. So obviously, you can obtain slightly better performance in the Challenger if that’s what you’re gunning for.

However, both vehicles offer a wide range of powertrain options beyond the Pentastar V6, including a 5.7L HEMI V8, a HEMI 392 V8, a supercharged Hellcat V8, and a High-Output Hellcat V8. Which trim you choose will determine which engine is paired with the vehicle and how much performance you can get out of it. If you want a rear-wheel drive vehicle that’s all about maximum power, you can get it from either the Charger or the Challenger. Alternatively, if you want an all-wheel drive option for better traction and stability, you can take advantage of that from both vehicles as well.

Jailbreak vs SRT Super Stock

When it comes to the trim selection, the newer Charger and Challenger model years offer many of the same trims. The SXT, GT, R/T, Scat Pack, Scat Pack Widebody, SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody, and Jailbreak are shared between both vehicles. But keeping with the theme of performance, the Challenger is available in SRT Hellcat and SRT Hellcat Redeye trims with or without the widebody modification. It’s something to consider depending on which trim speaks to you most.

However, the biggest divergence between the two vehicles comes in the form of the top-end trims. For the Charger, the top trim available is the Jailbreak, which comes with the 6.2-liter High-Output Hellcat V8. It produces 797 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque, making it an absolute monster. The Challenger is also available in the Jailbreak trim, but its version tops out at 807 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque, just edging out the Charger in terms of performance.

Alternatively, the Challenger also has the SRT Super Stock as its top trim (previous model years offered the now legendary Demon, but sadly it’s no longer available). This trim is designed for drag racing, much like the Demon, allowing the Challenger to hit 0 to 60 mph in just 3.25 seconds, making it even faster than the Challenger Jailbreak. It also comes standard with Nitto NT05R Drag Radial Tires. Unfortunately, the Super Stock is not available for the Charger. So there is a difference in the top-end performance capabilities between the two vehicles, with the availability of certain trims like the Super Stock being exclusive to the Challenger.

Price vs Convenience

Whether you decide to go with the Challenger or Charger depends on your budget, driving preferences, and what you feel is most convenient to own. If you have a family, then the Charger is probably going to be the better choice. If you’re on a budget and it’s just you, the Challenger GT and R/T are the more affordable options, both with a starting MSRP that’s under $40,000. In fact, the Challenger R/T starts at $39,075, whereas the Charger R/T starts at $41,405.[a]

If you need the space and cabin volume, the Charger will be your better bet. If you want maximum power, then the Challenger is the better option. Both have a unique set of exterior colors, but you definitely get a more varied interior selection with the Challenger if that’s something that might persuade you in your purchasing decision. So now, if you’re thinking, “Which high-performance Dodge muscle car should I get?” you have a better idea of what each one offers. Hopefully, it will make it easier when it’s time to settle on a purchase.

In today’s world of online commerce, purchasing goods and services has become easier than ever. With the quick tap of an app, we can order food, clothes, and other necessary amenities that make our lives comfortable. Before the global pandemic, many people had no choice in how they acquired various goods. Due to the growing necessity for quarantining and social distancing, online ordering became common practice as most of the world’s workforce had to resort to working remotely. It’s only natural that the process of purchasing an automobile would join the list of products that are available to anyone with an internet connection and a driver’s license.

At Spirit CDJR, we know Jeep, the fleet, the history, and most importantly, the advantages of owning one. For those who enjoy online shopping, you’ll be pleased to know that you can factory order Jeep vehicles and have them custom-made to your specifications. That’s right, and you can order a Wrangler in the same fashion that you can order your weekly groceries, and it’s easy to do right here on our website. If you’ve been curious about the process and its advantages, we’re here to answer all of your questions.

What Are the Advantages of Factory Ordering Your Jeep?

Let’s backtrack to the food analogy for a brief moment. Imagine you sit down at a restaurant. You place your order, but you’re not given a chance to tell the waiter or waitress the specifics of how you want your meal prepared. The result is something that might taste good and feel fulfilling, but there are a few ingredients that you could do without and maybe a few that are missing that would have been to your liking. In a nutshell, choosing to factory order your Jeep means that you’ll have what you want and none of what you don’t. You’ll be able to customize your trim level to your liking and precise specifications.

Going through the factory means you won’t have to settle for something that someone else wanted but might not match your liking. After all, you wouldn’t order a pizza with anchovies if you don’t even like them, would you?

The Ordering Process Is Simple

You’ll have more options than ever when you start to build your own model. The vehicle selection isn’t limited to just a few models or select trims; the entire Jeep fleet is available for complete customization. The choice is yours to do what you want, from the exterior color to interior amenities. We’ve decided to walk through a hypothetical process to illustrate how easy the process is and the options you’ll have to work with.

Start by choosing the type of Jeep you want. Whether you want to go with the Wrangler, Compass, or Grand Wagoneer, they’re all here to choose from. For this exercise, we’ll be going with the Jeep Wrangler, as the Wrangler is one of the most popular models on the road today.

Next, you’ll want to find the ideal trim level that agrees with your wants and needs. For instance, if you’re buying a 2022 Jeep Wrangler, you’ll have a total of twelve different trims to choose from, each one with its own unique advantages. Take a look at the starting MSRP for each one; this will give you an idea of where your customization process begins. It’s important to stay within your means and don’t overspend. We advise setting up a budget before the ordering process to keep things affordable.

Once your model and trim level have been chosen, it’s time to choose the type of exterior you want. You’ll have some important choices to make. While color is usually easy, there are other chances to fine-tune your Jeep with items such as tires, wheels, and even door handles. If you’ve ever wanted to turn heads, here’s your opportunity. After all, you only get one chance to make a first impression.

While spectators will notice the exterior of your Jeep, it’s the interior where you can really put your own signature on your vehicle. This is the throne upon which you’ll sit and survey your kingdom and the terrain you wish to explore and conquer. Opting for a stylish interior can make all the difference in your commute. Here, you’ll choose which color scheme works best for you. You’ll also have the chance to decide upon what infotainment screen you like and items such as dual-zone climate control. Remember, this is where you’ll spend most of your time; make it count.

The ultimate choice you have in front of you is which powertrain you would like to utilize. For instance, the Wrangler has three distinct engines, each one having its own advantages depending on what you plan on using your newly acquired vehicle for. The standard engine for the Wrangler is a 3.6L Pentastar V6. Known for its resiliency and durability, some users can get over 200,000 miles of service when the engine is properly maintained. With 285 horsepower and the ability to generate 260 lb-ft of torque, you’ll have the ability to tow 3,500 lbs with minimal effort.

For those who want a slimmed-down motor that still delivers plenty of performance, a 2.0L Turbocharged inline-four cylinder is also available, with 270 horsepower and the ability to generate an impressive 295 lb-ft of torque. This ultimate adventure machine comes with four-wheel drive, and to maximize control over the drive, there’s the option for a six-speed manual transmission or an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 6-speed manual is only available for the 3.6L V6 engine, so if you want one of the other engines, you’ll get the 8-speed automatic by default.

Are There Any Disadvantages of Ordering From the Factory?

Should you decide to order from a factory, there are a couple of things that you should be aware of before placing your order. Ordering anything that is custom-built to your specifications means having to wait for an undetermined period of time. Some locations work faster than others, and depending on if a location has all the necessary parts can make a considerable impact on production and delivery times.

Depending upon what you have done, there is a slight possibility that customization can affect resale value. While your new Jeep can be customized to fit your needs, it might not adhere to someone else’s. Any vehicle you purchase is an investment, and it’s good to put a lot of thought into making the choice that best suits you. On the opposite end, parts that are built for better performance might add to the resale value. It all depends on how much life you want out of your vehicle.

Making the Right Choice

While having a Jeep custom-made to a person’s precise specifications isn’t for everyone, it’s a great way to have a vehicle that has a very unique and personal touch. It can be a choice that presents many options on what works best for you and your situation. When you visit Spirit CDJR, you’ll find a team that’s in your corner and wants to get you on the road just as much as you do. We’ll take the time to listen to you, your concerns, your needs, and your current situation. We’ll help you decide whether or not a customized model is best for you and help you explore all the options. No matter what your choice might be, we hope to lend a hand to your search for a better quality of life.
